It is precisely this sort of mean spirited, and off topic comments that I don't want to see on this forum.

I wouldn't joke about the darkgod, beings such as it tend to get summoned when you say their name.
And there's no need to tease about avatars, Kat's is very nice and fits with the upcoming holiday.

Don't worry, we were just teasing so I'm not offended or anything, but we'll try to keep this as some pm's from now on.

Thank you Kat_05. Very Happy I know that you were just responding to the offense offered you, but it does tend to extend the public misery when we respond to the snide and inflammatory comments of others. Keeping such to private messages is much better. Smile

Though where private messages are concerned, I must point out that if I receive complaints about members persistantly abusing other members via private messages, I am fully capable of reading those messages and banning the offensive users. I don't like doing it because it's an invasion of privacy, and because it's a pain in my backside to do so, but it's possible to do and if I'm asked to moderate such messages I won't have any problem doing so. If it gets waaay out of hand I'm also capable of shutting off access to private messaging for certain users, as well as shutting the option off altogether, but I would hope things don't get so rude around here as to have to take such drastic measures.

What the? No matter where I go, everyone's overparanoid about this, and that's what always causes the real arguments. Although this is Treesprite's forum, I'm still tired of everyone caring about all this insignifigant problems and focusing on what realy causes trouble. I myself see nothing offensive there.

Hi all,

MDude has brought up a point, about everyone bothering over petty things, and I'd like to address it. I therefore ask that everyone consider these facts:

1.) Considering that this is a forum of over a hundred persons, it is reasonable to assume that we won't all be in the same jovial mood at the same time. Therefore at any given time, what one person interprets as fun, another may interpret as rude.

2.) Considering that this is a forum where facial expressions, and tonal queues are missing some people may construe something meant as funny to be rude.

Both of these points taken into consideration, I think that it's reasonable to request that jibes, and comments that could be construed as rude be kept to a minimum, as well as to private conversations. I don't think that minding our manners is a horribly outlandish thing to ask of those who frequent this forum. If anyone has some constructive suggestions, or well thought out complaints concerning this topic, please feel free to contribute them here.

Thank you,
TreeSprite

P.S. Consider as well that part of the reason the above conversation was split off from the original topic, and brought to light here is that it was off topic.

On a personal note, the off topic nature of the above conversation was really what was foremost in my mind as I separated this topic from the original thread. The jabs back and forth, though I saw them as jovial jabs between two members who have been well established as kidders, could be misconstrued by other readers and possibly make them uncomfortable or inflamed enough that further postings could possibly move into a flame war. I merely wished to point out that it is precisely that sort of seemingly innocent jabbing, combined with the fact that it was entirely off topic, that often sparks tempers and can cause flame wars.
