| Post subject: Help! Know any good tips, tricks or cheats for DS? |
|
Hi everyone! I need some help please. Would everyone kindly take time to post tips, tricks, or cheats that they find most useful? If your tip or trick involves the use of an agent, I would appreciate it if you could give a description and/or post an image as well as provide credit for who made the agent and a link for where to get it. Please make sure your links are pointing to the original author's website where possible. Submissions will be posted to TreeSprite's Grove with a recommended by username byline.

Ummm...Well i may as well mention it although it can be very time consuming:
If you get frustrated with norns who can't take care of themselves my IQ test. helps.
For some reason common sense is heridetary in norns so you can seletivly breed them to be able to care for themselves.
Sometimes results are obvious because its often much easier to get the babies to use the learning machine.
Other than that....
oh if they won't use the machine typing targ norn vocb in the caos line teaches them to speak.
And if they get stuck at a life stage targ norn ages 1 will make them jump to the next one.
Thats about it really, sorry if you knew most of this already. |

I wouldn't use
targ norn dead
because I think it works on all creatures and it killed my best norn! |

targ twin hots 0 : replicates curser'd agent
targ hots setv va00 attr addv va00 2 attr va00 : curser'd agent is pick-upable
meta 6 1 1 1 : takes you the the space invaders area

I made an agent for AA's b-day last year that when a norn used it the norn would say 'They're coming to take me away, haha!'. |

| Not like it's anything special, but it can come in handy. You can go to the room were you create agents (forgot the name of the room.) the cameras can allow you to move them by clicking on the pictcher it puts it on the big screen, and you can use the arrows to move it. Then the buttons to the side of the cameras will telaport you to the location of the camera. |

That was cool. Anyone remember the number for the meta room in C3 that had the image of the toilet and a few other things I can't seem to remember?
My tip:
If you need to shorten the automatic save time in DS, you can do it with the following CAOS command by changing the tick time to whatever you want:
rtar 1 2 7 tick 5000
5000 is about 5 minutes with my 1.2 Ghz processor but your time will vary depending on the speed of your computer, how big your world is, the number of Norns, etc.. I'm not sure what the default is... it might be 36000.

The code for that room was meta 5 0 0 0
It took you to a space with what looked like a map of something, a little box that told you the season and time of day and the toilet control.
Does anyone remember the one for space invaders or any of the other secret things?
i think meta 1-9 0 0 0
and meta 1-9 1 1 1
all did thingws like that but i never got around to trying them. |

I believe you have to have C3 in order to play or the metaroom location of 6 1 1 1 is invalid. You can play the game in DS as long as it is Docked with C3.
setv game "scared" 1 meta 6 1 1 1
Click on the Grendel to start. Arrow keys control the norn head movement. Space bar to fire. You only get three norn heads. Avoid the blue bombs from the grendels. |

arrow left/right/up/down...... scrolls in game screen
shift+right click .................. picks up creature
alt+tab............................... minimizes/maximizes game to/from taskbar

ctrl+left arrow/right arrow... scrolls through all words typed to creatures

Thanks Danikat.
A couple of more tips:
If you hold the Insert key down while bringing the hand over a Creature, you will be able to tickle the Creature at any point on its body. Holding the Delete key down will allow you to slap a Creature at any point.

I've found that by typing (or a manipulation of it) leads to a room that has the DS logo on it. This room has two levels, and can be used for some extra space (although your norns will need a teleporter to get in and out). Just don't forget to leave several vendors about!
This only seems to work in undocked worlds, though: if the norn terrarium is present, the camera will go there instead. |

yup. that's 'cause DS doesn't wipe the map when creating a new world, so the startup screen stays there as that metaroom if the world isn't docked...
sometimes agents can show up in that room- especially when silly people like me are debugging new agents and forget to put in a mvto command... |

Camera code
Ctrl + Shift+ X
^ That will tell you where you are on the creatures map.
caos command
cmra XXXX XXXX 0
replace X with the number with what you got from the camera code, when you use the code it will bring you to the place
Map Re-Sizeing
mapd 10000 10000
That is the normal size of the creatures map. You can replace the current numbers with whatever you want, but i wouldnt change it to a smaller size, also if you want to make it smaller and there is a place on the map that requires more space than that then the engine will refuse to make it smaller. I made an agent that brings the map to it's normal size. |

For undocked worlds, use the Eggenater which you can get right here and make an egg out of the creature and when it hatches, use | Quote: | | targ norn ages 1 : makes selected creature older 1 step. |
or just let it grow up.
You can also get it here. At the second link, there is a Eggrnater 2 being worked on. Its worth it going to both, if only to read the desc.'s and learning what it can do. They each tell different things.
Hope that helps! |

How-to:
Store norns in your inventory.
Or stop a norn from dieing (I think)
WARNING: Your screen will start moving fast fast (Or not, depending on which way your norn is pointing ) Temporarily (Unless your norn is obsessed with right)...
All the things like Angelnorn or Devilnorn or Selected creature halo thingy (tm) will probably be hidden.
Shift+Right-click will grab a creature.
Ctrl+I Will store it into your inventory.
Pick it up with Shift+Right-click and take it out afterwards.
I think he/she will begin to slow, and eventually stop moving and lose all responsiveness. Just take him/her out. |
